Palliative Care and Butterfly Hospice Program

Welcome to the Palliative Care and Butterfly Hospice Program at The Phoenix Center for Rehabilitation and Pediatrics, where we provide specialized care designed to offer comfort, dignity, and peace to children facing life-limiting conditions and their families. Our program is dedicated to ensuring that every child’s remaining time is as comfortable and meaningful as possible, surrounded by love and support.

Palliative Care Services

Our Palliative Care team focuses on relieving the symptoms, pain, and stress of serious illness, regardless of the diagnosis or stage of the disease. We aim to improve the quality of life for both the child and their family by addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.

Butterfly Hospice Program

The Butterfly Hospice Program, a cornerstone of our palliative care services, offers a nurturing and supportive environment for children in the final stages of life. This program is named for the butterfly's symbolism of hope, transformation, and gentle beauty, reflecting our approach to end-of-life care.

Our Multidisciplinary Team

Our care is delivered by a compassionate, multidisciplinary team that includes:

  • Pediatric Palliative Care Specialists

  • Experienced Nurses

  • Social Workers

  • Chaplains and Spiritual Care Providers

  • Bereavement Counselors

  • Volunteers


Together, we create a personalized care plan for each child, ensuring that all aspects of their well-being are addressed.

A CMS 5-Star Rated Facility in Quality Measures

Ratings for the quality measures are based on performance on 15 of the QMs that are currently posted on the Care Compare website. These include nine long-stay measures and six short-stay measures. Note that not all the quality measures that are reported on Care Compare are included in the rating calculations. In addition to an overall quality measure rating, separate QM ratings for short-stay measures and long-stay measures are also reported.
